Child Guidance Center - A History of Caring

Founded in 1967, CGC helps children and families achieve healthier, better-balanced lives through innovative counseling, educational enrichment approaches and medication support. A multi-disciplinary staff of 50 clinicians (including seven Board-Certified Child Psychiatrists) empowers more than 3,100 children annually that have been or who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems, are at high risk for physical, emotional or sexual abuse and/or who are experiencing learning problems secondary to emotional or behavioral issues.
CGC Serves Southern California
Some children experience emotional or behavioral problems. Some have been physically, emotionally or sexually abused. Others reflect learning problems secondary to underlying emotional or behavioral issues. While CGC serves children and families from every economic strata and ethnicity, the majority is economically disadvantaged, living in pockets of poverty throughout Orange County, California.
CGC provides its services through three main facilities in Buena Park, Fullerton and Santa Ana, with two satellites located in Santa Ana (Corbin Family Resource Center, and the Minnie Street Family Resource Center). Additionally, CGC partners with a number of private, non-profit and educational agencies, e.g., the Tustin Family Resource Center and UC Davis, Medical Center, Dept. of Pediatrics, to provide Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) services.
Affordable and Effective
Fees are affordable through a sliding scale. Insurance may cover all or part of the cost. Clients seeking services through fee-for-service contracted programs, e.g., MediCal — EPSDT, must meet eligibility requirements of that program in order to receive services
CGC Offers a Full Range of Professional Program Management
Governance and Management are provided by an elected, all volunteer, Board of Directors and by an Executive Director assisted by three Clinical Program Directors and a Manager of Administration. Clinical, administrative and fiscal Quality Assurance is monitored and maintained through a combination of pre- and post treatment evaluations, performance indicators, and outside clinical and financial audits.
A Helping Hand is Always Close
Our annual budget of six million dollars provides for services through three main treatment locations in Buena Park, Fullerton and Santa Ana; through satellite clinics located in Orange and Santa Ana. Our annual budget also funds the expansion of CGC’s landmark Santa Ana-based counseling program Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) program and the upcoming opening of new PCIT programs in North and South Orange County.
